A Rational Guide To An Irrational World

Rational Review of Mint

  • Mint is THE budget App.
  • Getting started, you enter your account information from anything from loans to bank accounts to credit cards. Mint consolidates the accounts in an easy to use interface
  • On the front page, you have Transactions which show debits and credits from the last 3 or 4 transactions you’ve made. You can automatically categorize your spending to provide yourself with more information about your spending
  • Mint also tracks all of your accounts and gives you a good breakdown of your net worth. I personally think Personal capital has a better graphical breakdown of this, but Mint is fairly solid.
  • Mint also keeps track of upcoming bills you have with dates and amounts of payments. This section takes some troubleshooting by you as the App doesn’t always pick up all of your bills
  • Mint provides you with ways to lift your credit score, however, I definitely recommend Credit Karma or Credit Sesame for credit troubleshooting
  • Basically, I would use this app to track your spending on a monthly or even weekly basis. After a few months, you can get a pretty good idea of your spending habits and ares where you can improve.
  • Did I mention the App is totally free? Well it is. FREE. No reason not to try it out
